Doug George
Crew Chief

There is something to be said for a being a drivers crew chief- a crew chief who has been behind the wheel as much as under the hood. A crew chief whose past racing experiences translates into instant chemistry and success. A crew chief who can mold young drivers into champion drivers. That defines who Doug George is. He is a veteran racer and a veteran crew chief who has helped shape some of the stars youngest. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is where he has lent his craft, and it's where he is still today. In 2008, George will help lead another young driver. He will be the lead mechanic and call the shots for Marc Mitchell and the #15 Ergon Chevrolet for Billy Ballew Motorsports.

It's difficult to find any person who has as much knowledge of a race truck or the workings of a stock racer than George. A winning racer himself, George owned and raced for Doug George Motorsports throughout the late 80's and into the 90's in his hometown of California. He's a former NASCAR Southwest Tour champion (1990), a former NASCAR Camping Word West Rookie of The Year and a later a champion (1995) in that same series. George continued his career all the way to the Craftsman Truck Series where he competed from 1996 to 2000.

George was extremely competitive during his time in the series. His career includes 10 top-10 and one top-five finish. He was runner-up for Rookie of The Year in 1996 and finished a career best 12th in series points. George not only was a famed driver, but continued to do most of the work on the race trucks. His experiences are nearly unmatched in the Craftsman Truck Series.

That experience made him one of the most sought after minds in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. High profile NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams wanted the services of George to help build and lead their teams. In 1999, George made the move to crew chief for Impact Motorsports and driver Carlos Contreras. He later moved onto Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons. He helped Coy Gibbs through his Craftsman Truck career including aiding him to over 20 top-10 finishes in his three seasons.

George has since been a crew chief and team manager for various organizations continuing to mold young drivers. His leadership skills make him the perfect candidate for his newest challenge. In 2008, George will work, for the first time, with the young Marc Mitchell at Billy Ballew Motorsports. George has the experience to help bring Mitchell and the #15 Ergon Chevrolet to the front and make Mitchell a champion driver just like George.
