Built Ford Tough 250 Qualifying Report

OVERVIEW

posted on July 19, 2008

Marc Mitchell turned a qualifying lap of 31.597 seconds for the Built Ford Tough 250 at Kentucky Speedway. His fast circuit around the 1.5 mile speedway was good enough for sixth-place in the starting lineup, however Mitchell drove into the outside retaining wall on his second lap and damaged the Ergon Tundra. As a result of the accident the team has unloaded the backup truck, which means Mitchell will have to start from the rear of the field for tonight's race.

"The first lap felt good," said Mitchell. "The Ergon Tundra stuck through the corners and carried speed down the straights. I just went for too much on the second lap. I tried holding it wide open through Turns 3 & 4 and it got into the wall. I hate it for the team. They gave me an awesome truck and we would have had great starting position. But I know if anyone can come from the back to the front, it's the Ergon team. We've got a long race ahead and we'll make the most of it."
