Mountain Dew 250 at Talladega Superspeedway Pracice Report

OVERVIEW

posted on October 02, 2008

With a fastest lap of 50.572 seconds around the 2.66 mile Talladega Superspeedway, John Andretti finished practice for the Mountain Dew 250 in 11th-place. The Ergon Racing team made several changes throughout the session, including gear and shock swaps which aided the No. 15 truck’s lap times.

“The truck felt really good,” said Andretti. “We spent our practice time getting the truck to handle well in the draft. It’s important to have the truck suck up to the person running in front of you. We made a gear change and that helped it close the gaps a lot. By the end of practice, I felt like we were as good as anyone else in the draft. Saturday’s race is going to be a wild one for sure. There are a bunch of good trucks and they’re all running nose to tail. Hopefully we can stay out of trouble and show everyone how good we really are at the end.”
Qualifying for the Mountain Dew 250 begins tomorrow at 12:05 est. The race begins on Saturday at 4:00 pm. Coverage is on SPEED TV.
