E-Z-Go 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway Practice Report

OVERVIEW

posted on October 25, 2008

Practice at Atlanta Motor Speedway for today’s E-Z-Go 200 concluded with the Ergon Racing truck in 15th-place. Denny Hamlin's fastest lap around the 1.5-mile speedway was 31.975 seconds (173.385 mph), about seven tenths of a second slower than leader Ryan Newman.

Because of uncooperative weather, today’s field will be set according to owner’s points, which puts Hamlin in 20th-place for the start of the race. Hamlin is confident the No. 15 Toyota is capable of tracking down the leaders.

“The Ergon Racing Toyota is pretty sporty,” said Hamlin. “We weren’t too high on the speed charts because our truck isn’t set up for one quick lap, it’s tuned for long runs. We have a top-five truck based on five-lap averages, so that makes me feel pretty good about today. I think if we can stay out of trouble, we’ll be up front when it counts.”

The E-Z-Go 200 starts at 1:30. Coverage is on SPEED TV.
