Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway Practice Report
OVERVIEW
posted on November 06, 2008
Kenny Wallace concluded practice in 22nd-place for tomorrow’s Lucas Oil 150. The Ergon Tundra rounded the one-mile oval in 28.308 seconds, eight tenths of a second slower than Ron Hornaday who ran the fastest lap of the day. The No. 15 truck experienced problems with the power plant in the final stages of practice and will have to switch engines before qualifying tomorrow.“The Ergon Racing Tundra was handling great,” said Wallace. “We never made a mock run, so we weren’t going to be high on the charts. I was really happy with the way it got through the turns. I could hammer down on the exit and that’s what’s important here. We were a little tight at the beginning of the day, but Doug (George) made all the right changes. I don’t know what went wrong with our engine. I was going onto the track and heard some awful noises coming from under the hood. I switched it off as quickly as I could. The engine tuners took a look at it and decided it was best to switch it before tomorrow. It’s too bad, but at least we found out today instead of during the race.”
Qualifying starts tomorrow at 4:30est, and the green flag begins the Lucas Oil 150 at 8:00pm. Coverage is on SPEED TV.
