Lucas Oil 150 Qualifying Report

OVERVIEW

posted on November 07, 2008

Kenny Wallace piloted the Ergon Racing Tundra around the Phoenix International Speedway in 28.10 seconds during qualifying for tonight’s Lucas Oil 150. His speed of 128.526 mph would have placed him 23rd on the starting grid, however, he will begin the event from the back of the field because of an engine swap the No. 15 team made last night.

“We didn’t have anything to gain or lose during qualifying, so I didn’t push it too hard,” said Wallace. “Because we switched our motor, we were going to start in the back no matter how well we qualified. Basically it didn’t matter if our lap was good or bad, so I just drove a safe lap. Starting in the back, we’ve got a lot of ground to make up in a short time. We’ll have to use some pit strategy to our advantage, maybe we’ll take two tires on the first pit stop or get out of sequence with the leaders. I know the Ergon Tundra is driving well, so I hope we can get it up front and mix it up with the leaders at the end.”

The green flag drops tonight at 8:00est. SPEED TV is covering the event.
